BIST Movements & Steps

- Verbal Warning
- Student is told they are making a poor choice.
- Given opportunity to correct their behavior.
- Safe Seat
- Student did not correct behavior after warning.
- Moved to Safe Seat in classroom as alternate seating to help better student’s behavior.
- Buddy Room
- Student proved unsuccessful in Safe Seat and moved to Buddy Room in nearby/team teacher’s classroom.
- Student must process with classroom teacher within 48 hours of BIST Movement before they may re-enter the classroom environment.
- Recovery Room 128
- Student proved unsuccessful in Buddy Room and moved to Recovery Room (Room 128)
- Student must process with classroom teacher within 48 hours of BIST Movement before they may re-enter the classroom environment.
- Verbal Warning
4-Step Consequences
- Warning
- Student is given verbal warning by teacher to correct problem behavior.
- Phone Call Home
- Student is still struggling with problem behavior.
- Phone call is made to parent/guardian.
- Detention
- Student’s problem behavior has increased and is issued a detention to be served within 48 hours.
- Teacher may call parent/guardians.
- Office Referral
- Student’s problem behavior has further increased and is issued an office referral.
- Administrative personnel may call parents/guardians.
Arrowhead Middle School Building Expectations
- Raise your hand for permission to speak.
- Stay in your seat unless given permission to move.
- Keep your head up and eyes open at all times.
- Keep your possessions and body parts to yourself.
- Follow all adult instructions immediately and completely.
